Today has been a good day. First, I found out that the economic stimulus thingy that the feds are giving out this year will be popping into my checking account tomorrow: all $300 of it. *bounces*
Then, I got an e-mail from my boss at the university. Normally, since I'm no longer a full-time student I can only work part-time hours six months out of the year. However, he told me that even though my contract is up the 4th of May, he's getting me a new one to start on the 8th of May. He's also gonna try to get me permission to work up to full-time hours during the summer. Now, with my other job I can't work that many hours a week, but I'll still be able to work more than I am now.
What this means is that I don't have to worry about not being able to afford to go to both DragonCon and EyeCon later this year. It also means that I can fix the air conditioning in my car, which in Tennessee is kind of important in the summer. *g*
All in all, right now life is good.

I've been back from EyeCon for less than a week, and I'm already thinking about where I want to go next. *shakes head* And one thing that's really caught my attention is DragonCon, mostly due to the fact that both Jamie Bamber (who I am seriously grooving on right now *g*) and Gareth David-Lloyd are going to be there. The thing is, however, that all I know about DragonCon is that it's crowded and kind of chaotic, and there's really no way I can drive into Atlanta without having a nervous breakdown. *sheepish grin*
Is anyone else planning on going? Maybe someone who has a bit of floorspace left in their room that I could sleep on and/or is driving in from somewhere in the general vicinity of Tennessee who wouldn't mind giving me a lift? *gives flist puppy eyes of doom* Or someone who knows someone who does?

Well, the con is pretty much over and I'm seriously tired. But boy, was it worth it. I had photos taken with just about everyone (which I personally think make me look bad, though Karen assures me that I don't), got to sit at Sam Ferris's table at the banquet, watch Chad and Gabe play Guitar Hero at the platinum party and then headed to Steve's concert, which totally rocked. Plus, I found out that Steve's got a new CD coming out in about a month, which is seriously awesome (and I loved the songs from it that he played for us.)
Then today was Jared, who rocks like a rocking thing. He was funny and charming and so amazingly sweet. Then there was the photo op with him. I knew that he was big, but even still he's bigger in person than you'd think.
I'll try to get a more detailed report written sometime after I get back tomorrow, but if you want to know everything that went on it'd probably be best to hit the Super-wiki page with all the links to con reports.

So far, the day has been absolutely fabulous. Jim Beaver was awesome, terribly funny (especially when he was trying to get someone to explain the joke about the shirt he was wearing, which said 'I read John/Bobby) and seemed really enthusiastic about the whole con experience. I'm pretty sure that he'd be more than happy to start going to more.
The Roadhouse crew was terrific, especially the way Sam sort of ragged on Chad, and how she and Alona kept mentioning how hot the Js were. *g*
Gabriel is just too adorable for words, and also seemed to really enjoy the whole con experience. He was really funny and just downright cute.
Sandy is insanely sweet. She was bouncing around the stage, constantly giggling and trying not to look nervous. And the story she told about how Jared proposed to her was just adorable.
Sadly, most of the pictures I tried to take came out fuzzy, but I figure there are enough people who will be posting much nicer pictures so I'm not all that bothered about it.

Well, I'm missing the Ten Inch Hero screening, which is quite sad, since my flight was delayed by about an hour and a half, I got a wee bit lost in the Orlando airport and my cabbie (who, it must be said, seemed like a really nice guy) accidentally missed the exit for the hotel. *pouts* But I'm here, and I've decided that all of my bad luck has been taken care of now in one fell swoop. *nods head decisively* The rest of the weekend is going to be fabulous...even if it kills me. *eg*

I'm leaving tomorrow for Orlando and EyeCon. That means Jared. *pauses to squee and flail* Anyway, I'll be gone all weekend, though I will be taking my laptop and I'll try to keep something of a running commentary on everything while I'm in Florida. I will also be taking pictures like a mad person (because that'll pretty much be what I am, though it'll be the nice kind of mad, not the kind that needs a straight jacket. *g*)
So if you're down there, look me up. I'd love to finally be able to put faces to names. *g*

Ouch. *grimaces* I was working on inventory at the store this morning, and managed to overbalance a plastic milk crate full of bags of flour onto my leg. Right above my knee. Where I now have a lovely purpling bruise that's all stiff and slightly puffy. And hurts whenever I bend my knee or try to walk. Yep, lots and lots of fun, that. *bends knee and winces*

Well, they didn't blow it up, but there was a fire. The restaurant and furniture store that were next door pretty well burned to the ground early this morning, but it looks like the grocery store where I work has mostly smoke damage (plus probably some water damage from putting the fire out.) It was a close call since the buildings are fairly old and all share attic space, but someone happened to notice the fire in time and the firefighters responded really quickly. They haven't said anything officially about what caused it, but a lot of people are talking about the possibility that it was arson.
In any case, it'll probably be a while before I can go back to work there, though at least I've still got my other job for the next couple of months.

Wow, it's been over a month since I last posted here. My writing mojo had completely disappeared (which isn't good when you've got bigbang fics to write) and nothing interesting was happening in real life (at least, nothing much) so I just didn't bother to post. But now my muses are back, with a vengeance, and I'm breaking my self-imposed exile. *g*
I also haven't had a lot of time to do anything online since I was promoted to night manager at my second job, which meant a pay raise but also extra hours. But I have managed to plot out some fic ideas while at work, including my first major foray into the world of Harry Potter. *g* I'm also working on my SPN bigbang and a few other fics, too. And hopefully I'll be able to update more than once a month. *g*

I'm a couple of days late on seeing the announcement, but it turns out that Steve Carlson is going to be attending EyeCon this April! He's going to be playing a full concert on Saturday night, along with signing autographs and doing photo-ops. *bounces* I was so hoping that they'd get him to come, and I'm thrilled that they did.
